In November 2009, we met up with 8 members of the Nettwerk records nu-Choral group, Aliqua, for a series of recordings in the south Main st. area of Vancouver, BC. Alice, from the group, is an old friend of our director, so it was a great chance to catch up with old friends as we produced some beautiful visuals for the people at Nettwerk. We ended up shooting 4 songs (which can all be found on the vimeo site) and here is their rendition of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy”:
We started in a residential on Watson st. where some of Vancouver’s finest artists have rested over the years (including company favourite Emily Brown). The shoot moved down the alleys of Main, and we eventually settled in Lauren and Cara Stryer’s elegant Vincent Park store. We wrapped at one of the best reasons to visit the area, The Regional Assembly Of Text, where the group recorded a lovely version of Cohen’s Hallelujah in the store’s reading room.
For more information about the group:
Special thanks to Lauren and Cara Stryer, the wonderful folk at Regional Assembly Of Text, Travis Teakle and the kind residents of 4332 Watson street for the use of their home.
